U4GM Diablo 4: Best Path to Torment 12 - Andrew736 - 08.09.2026

Getting established in Torment 1 is about building a reliable loop, not trying to rush every difficulty gate at once. If Season 15 lands around September 15, 2026, the Lord of Hatred systems should make early material choices matter even more. Start by sorting your sockets and core gear, then fill the gaps with D4 items that fit the build you're actually playing. A strong resistance setup and useful affixes will do more for smooth clears than chasing one rare drop too early.

Start with gems and short dungeon runs

Head to Temis in the Skovos Isles when Torment 1 opens. Seer's Boundary, northeast of town, is the sensible first stop because it's short and its boss drops Royal Gems and Grand Gems. Clear it a few times, socket what you need, and move on. Then use War Plans to enter Nightmare Dungeons if you haven't got Sigils yet. Those runs feed you Sigil Powder, upgrade materials, and access to Escalations. The reward at the end can include Ancestral gear, Legendary pieces, and Boss Lair Keys, so it's a solid early route.

Keep Helltide at the centre of the loop

You'll notice pretty quickly that Helltide does a bit of everything. There are enemies everywhere, loot arrives fast, and it keeps your experience moving. Pick up Tree of Whispers tasks while you're there and turn Grim Favors into Caches of Chaos. They're good for gold, experience, and Codex progress. Gathering Legions are worth joining too, especially inside Helltide, where the chests can add local currency and Blood Maiden summoning hearts. If you fancy a riskier detour, Bloodmarked PvP areas have hidden chests with gem fragments, gold, and Horadric Cube materials.

Spend materials with a purpose

Use Murmuring Obols at the Purveyor of Curiosities to aim for weak gear slots rather than rolling blindly. Temis may not feel as generous for Uniques as Kyovashad, but that's not the point at this stage. You want usable Ancestral and Legendary foundations. Take rare pieces, Primordial Dust, and Tuning Prisms to the Horadric Cube in Temis. It can turn a promising item into something worth wearing or give it the affix your build needs. Fayira in the Mercenary Den is easy to overlook, yet Pale Marks can buy Aspect Caches that help fill out the Codex.

Save boss keys for the higher climb

Don't spend Boss Lair Keys in Torment 1. Keep them, along with summoning materials, until Torment 10 or above, where class Uniques and Mythic Uniques are far more worthwhile. Push difficulty through the Pit of Artificers in order, checking whether your damage and defence still hold up before moving ahead. Higher Torment levels unlock through Pit progress, with extra tiers opening every ten Pit levels from Torment 6. When you're ready to sharpen a nearly finished setup, buy cheap D4 items can help cover one stubborn slot while you keep farming the content that moves your character forward.
